Tag Heuer Carrera: The One for the Road
Tag Heuer has been known for creating iconic timeless pieces and the Tag Heuer Carrera collection is not an exception. Tag Heuer Carrera, inspired by the Carrera Pan Americana road race, was imagined to be a wide-open watch with easy-to-read dial and a shock-resistant and waterproof case. It was designed to be tough to withstand even the most intense road wear. After more than half a century since it was first introduced, the Tag Heuer Carrera line remains to be the brand’s flag bearer of unrivalled watch-making history and motor racing heritage.
The Tag Heuer Carrera Beginnings
The year 1963 was the year when the Tag Heuer Carrera was first launched. The intention was for Carrera to be a tool watch for drivers and racing aficionados, although up to today, it has become one of the most popular lines in the world of watch-making.
Legibility and durability were the most important considerations when Jack Heuer was designing the Carrera. Right from the very start, it was shockproof, waterproof, and anti-magnetic. The dial has always been clean and the markers well spaced. Clearly, to Heuer’s mind, he wanted to make reading the watch easy on the drivers’ eyes.
The Carrera of Today
Tag Heuer Carrera these days remains the same: clean, sleek profile, thin bezel.
The Calibre 1887 Automatic Chronograph is powered by the in-house Calibre 1887 movement. It is inspired by the Calibre 16 design. The bezel has ultra resistant ceramic while the case back is protected by un-scratchable sapphire.
The Calibre 16 Day Date Automatic Chronograph has a very masculine styling and especially made for motor racing lovers. There is a day and date function found at the 3 o’clock.
The Calibre 36 Flyback Automatic Chronograph is legendary because of the Calibre 36 movement pulsating inside this Tag Heuer Carrera case. It also comes with the flyback function that allows starting, stopping, and resetting the watch easily through a single touch of the flyback button. The titanium colour gives it the racing look although the model is also available in polished steel case.
For women, a new addition to the family is Calibre 9 Automatic Watch with diamond dial and diamond bezel. The glittering diamonds rest on a pure mother-of-pearl dial. The steel bracelet is H-shaped while the case back is made of sapphire crystal. It is also available in another version, the sporty one, in sandblasted titanium grade 2 case.
